sooooo, a needle pulling THREAD!

so all of break i had these great plans of getting SOOOOOOO much work done.
then the week came.... and basically WENT, so fast!
i got a few hours of work done during the week, but basically the majority of the work i've done has been all this week. probably around 35 hours worth of work.
i'm really pleased with where i am right now.
i've finished my second book:

i'm pretty sure that i'm going to cover them in a leather... most likely brown.
and even though i only showed a few pages, every page is filled with an image, as opposed to my first book, so you can image how much work i've DONE!!!!

then i started my second phase, enlarged version of these maps.
it's about six feet high and three feet wide:

i ordered you are here:personal geographies something something.
i'm picking it up tomorrow!!!!
so EXCITED!!!!!
i got another book about mapping as well. so i plan on doing some more research.... read read read..... sew sew sew.

antsy

i've been feeling really antsy lately.
there's so much work i want to be doing.
but i'm too distracted by my computer screen, my keyboard...
and then the knowing and anxiety of eveything that i want to be working on... i can't FOCUS!
i'm thinking of posting an ad on craigslist (about heart monitors and the like)
would anyone respond? what would i even list that under?!

definitely going to work large scale for phase 2,
my first phase in my other portfolio just ended. so i'll be working both on the individual months, and then the "BIG PICTURE" so to speak.
it will be good to work on both a the same time.
or at least i think so.
but if i actually get interest about the heart monitor, i'll start focusing on how i would do that.
can you actually record a heartbeat?
is that a stupid question?
because what if that's all i did. instead of reaching out to some STRANGER ? is this becoming a sound installation now??

i'm not gonna think to much about that now.
i'm going to drop off my piece for the all school SHOW!!!!

everyone else should too!!!
deadline is tomorrow!!!

past hour-ish

so for at least an hour now, i've been trying to set up a 'real' blog... while taking pictures of what i would want posted on my blog.
i've never really been a blogger person...
but hey, i guess it's a good way to put my work out there...
so why not do it, and do it well.
so i've set up a flickr account as well, to post my work onto, since i was having difficulty loading pictures last time.

i'm working on my first sold book right now.
curious george.
it's been nice to get away from hand cramping sewing which i have been doing for the past three days.
but i'm almost done with the first of 12... maybe 20. maybe even 27...
we'll see where exactly it goes, then decide how many is really appropriate!

prezident daze

so i've spent this weekend searching for the perfect STITCH for this project.
I THINK I FINALLY FOUND IT!
so i'm pretty excited about that!
i've done a lot of investigating on how i want each page to look, because i have to keep OVERLAPPING in mind. i can't forget about the OVERLAPPING!
it's most likely the most important part of this project.
i've completed about three practice pages.... now i'm on to the REAL THING!
VERY EXCITING!!!!
one page down... 400ish to GO!

emma johnson

artists using maps

so this has been an interesting week.
a little stressful... things still not going as planned....
BUT
!!!
i have found some really interesting artists....
just from searching what other artists use maps.
the artist emma johnson's work is really intreging to me.
unfortunately i can't find any other websites on her.... so i'm not sure what exactly her materials are...

trying to upload the image... not working?!
umm, i dont get IT!!

maybe i'll have to do a separate posting with it?!

just trying to figure out where to go this semester with my work, I already have an idea for a mixed media piece... to incorporate my sewing with one of the prints i want to make this semester in lithography.... so basically i'm still stuck in the beginning stages.....
